Antorjatik Gosai Parab has emerged as one of the largest folk festivals and handicraft fairs in West Bengal, with a significant presence in the Hooghly District. This spectacular event brings together renowned Bauls-Fakirs, musicians, and artisans from across India and abroad, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Cultural Performances
The festival features an array of captivating performances by over 200 artists, including musicians, dancers, and storytellers. From morning till night, the event grounds resonate with the essence of folk culture, attracting lakhs of visitors who come to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere.
In recent years, Antorjatik Gosai Parab has had the privilege of hosting renowned Baul-Fakir and folk music artists from around the world. Our previous festivals have featured talented performers from Bangladesh, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland, Japan, Russia, and Turkey.
This year, we are excited to continue this tradition by inviting a diverse range of artists from across the globe to perform at our festival. We look forward to showcasing the rich cultural heritage of these international artists and sharing their unique talents with our audience.
Handicraft Fair
The handicraft fair is an integral part of the festival, featuring an impressive display of traditional crafts from various districts of West Bengal, as well as from Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Approximately 250 artisans gather to showcase their exquisite handmade products, including the famous Afgani Shawl and Bangladeshi Nakshi Kantha.
Culinary Delights
The festival offers a diverse range of traditional Bengali cuisine, including the popular Pithe Puli. Visitors can savor the delicious flavors of Bengal’s rich food culture, with numerous stalls serving authentic dishes from various districts.
Fairground Attractions
The festival grounds also feature a general fair area with an assortment of food stalls, rides, and other attractions, catering to visitors of all ages.
Promotional Initiatives
To promote the festival, a team of 300 members embark on a month-long campaign, visiting various locations and performing folk music to connect with the local community. The team also creates posters, banners, and social media content to spread the word. Additionally, 50,000 leaflets are distributed door-to-door, and 20 gates are set up throughout the town to publicize the event.
Social Media Promotion
The festival’s social media presence plays a significant role in its promotional strategy. Regular updates, posters, and engaging content are posted on various platforms to create a buzz around the event. Last year, the team sent out 1 lakh postcards through the post office to invite people to the festival.
